Logs - A log - is a log - is a log. That is what some people would have you believe, but it is simply not so. The milled logs we provide are a "cut" above the rest. They are precision milled for a proper fit. The corners and lateral joints fit together snugly. Logs can be milled in up to 32" lengths for roof and floor beams post and special cuts. Logs are available in 7", 8", 9", 10", 12", and 14" diameters. A tongue & groove "D" log is also available in several different sizes. Logs are milled from standing dead Westernwoods. These species of logs are superior to white pine for log home construction because they are less prone to rot and have a lower compression ration and less settling. Speaking of settling, the average moisture content of our logs is 12% which is less than kiln dried. Over the years we have experienced settling of 1/2" to 3/4" in an 8' wall.

The standard package contains smooth logs with no bark or hand peeled surfaces. A rustic log is available it has about 20% of its surface hand peeled. This log appeals to those who prefer a more authentic log look.

Another option that we provide is a "Hand Hewn" log home. This is the type of log home you may have seen being built on public television. This package is made up of tree length logs. These logs are fitted and pre-stacked at the mill. Each log is scribed and cut to fit a specific location in the wall with hand tools. Many man hours are involved. The logs are delivered to the site in the order they go into the home - bottom logs first. The logs are taken from the trucks and placed directly in the house by a crane. A supervisor is sent from the mill to direct the re-stacking of the logs at your site. This work is usually done in less than a week. Because of the many man hours involved this package is more

MATERIALS INCLUDED IN THE SHELL PACKAGE:

Log Walls - Exterior log walls and gables. The price is based on Swedish coped logs with saddle notched corners. These logs are round with a cope in the bottom that fits over the top of the log below. The come in 7,8,9,10, and 12 inch diameters. We also provide a "D" shape log that is flat on the inside with a rounded exterior face. The "D" log comes in 6" x 8", 8" x 8" and 10" x 10" sizes. Dove tail logs are available in 6"x 8", 8"x 8", and 8"x12". The logs are milled from Lodge Pole Pine and Douglas Fir. 10" "D" logs are also available.

Second Floor System - Second floor joist beams, support beams and support posts, 2" x 6" T&G decking, log stairway with log hand railings, loft hand railing as needed. Log second floor joists are available.

Roof System - BCI rafters, Glulam beams, log support posts, 1" x 6" T&G roof sheeting. OSB goes above the TJI rafters. Log rafters and beams are also available.

Windows - Vinyl double pane windows with screens are provided. Windows may be either white or almond. Wood windows are provided in houses over 3,500 sq. ft.

Window & Door Framing - Materials can be included w/ conventional stairs. If log stairs are required call for details.

Log Fastening Package - Log fasteners, caulk for corners and butt joints, & gasket.

Log Stairs - 10" Diameter Treads or 12" Treads.

Log Porches & Decks -  Porches, decks & balconies are provided where shown. The material includes porch rough sawn roof rafters, rafter support beams, deck floor beams, deck floorjoist, 2" x 6" T&G roof decking, 2" x  6" redwood floor planking, 2x" floor joists, floor joist hangers, log porch roof support posts & log hand railing. On some homes BCI porches are available. (customers preference)

Garages - Garages are provided where shown. Garages and attached garages may be added to designs that do not include them. The garage package includes exterior log walls and gables, roof trusses, and roof sheeting.

Custom Design Service - Custom changes can be made to our standard homes. We can also help you design your own home. We specialize in custom work.

Blueprints & Engineering - Engineering is based on a 50 lb. snow load. The snow load will be adjusted to meet the requirements at your building site. Engineered plans are provided on plans listed.

Warranty - The material in this package is warranted to be of merchantable quality when delivered to the site. All warranty claims must be made on delivery and noted on the delivery slip. Prices are subject to change.
